I like T. Kingfisher’s other books a lot, but not this one for some reason. It just felt really slow, and I didn’t connect with the main character.

It's a fun story but the main character stressed me out! That said, I still found her adorable and I didn't hate her.

This was a really good kids book. It just felt like i was transported back to the mind of me as a kid. The magic was fun, I like when magic is tied to art, and the talking crow was very funny
Quintessential T. Kingfisher humor in a middle grade book (so I guess more like Ursula Vernon humor but woo publishing shenanigans)! Rosa has a lot to go through with her magical family and the dreaded Scarling. I particularly liked the fanged radishes.
