A delightful read! Rosa and her artist family are a bit eccentric, but so loving and the book does a great job capturing the feeling of being young and a bit unseen. The magical premise is simple but executed so well. Like many young adult books, Kingfisher writes fallible adults and the stakes certainly feel real as her family battles the monster. Reading this book made me happy, and reminded me to cherish our loved ones.

So this has something that frustrates me to no end.
The main character has VITAL information but chooses not to share it with her family , even when they ask her if she’s knows anything, until things reach catastrophic levels. I hate that as a plot device. I’m just screaming “TELL THEM!!”
Also, first time I’ve ever disliked a crow character, sad day for me.
