This was a pretty interesting read, in part because I'm not dating or sleeping with people at the moment and in part because so much of it felt more like therapy than Talk About Sex. I appreciated the way Nagoski tries to break down societal myths and tries to address as many different problems as possible, and there's stuff that she wrote in here that can 100% be applied to mental health outside of the sexual context that I am still thinking about!

My main issue here is that the book is very cis-women-centric. Nagoski DOES acknowledge this right at the beginning, which I appreciated, but there's a big difference between acknowledging that you're focused on cis women and then actually writing a book that's inclusive of trans women. Many of the messages in the book can definitely be used by trans women -- many of them are about like, affirming oneself and being kind to oneself, etc. -- but there's also a lot that really is just for cis women, which is unfortunate.

Should be required for everyone to read in high school!! What a better world it would be if everyone read it. Emily is Queen :)

this is a book that should be read, not listened to in audiobook form. i genuinely think it’s extremely interesting and well written, well researched and explained in a way that is somewhat accessible to non-professionals, but i wasn’t able to concentrate on the content with all its terminology at all. i will definitely pick this up again in the future (as a paperback), but it didn’t work for me as an audiobook.

Biraz daha metafora maruz kalsaydım kulaklarımı kesmek zorunda kalabilirdim (kulak çünkü audiobook)... Bilmediğim şeyler öğrendim ama transform falan biraz iddialı.

Should be required reading for all young women especially in today’s times of information. “We all have the same parts just arranged in different ways.” Everyone is normal. Because there is no normal. This is also an excellent example of scientific communication, I appreciated the different ways of describing processes of our bodies. This isn’t a “sexy” book but it’s very informative.
