I don't even really know what to say. This was incredible. So peaceful and relaxed but handling such intense internal struggles. It's nothing you've never heard before but it's such a strong and poetic telling. A great example of how fiction can and should be used to paint ideas. You could present any of the ideas in here much more succinctly and lay it all out very plainly, and it wouldn't amount to anything. There's some layer on top of "understanding" that fiction gives you. Some kind of submersion into the core or emotion of an idea. Anyway, this was beautiful and Hesse is beautiful and I am beautiful and you are beautiful and everything is beautiful forever.

This is still one of my favorite pieces of literature! After learning about the life of Gautama Buddha, I understand more of the parallels and references. Re-reading the novella as I get older, and (somewhat) more mature, improves my understanding of and appreciation for this story!!

No matter my experiences or my sitsuation, this novella is relevant & profoundly speaks to me. A testament to it being one of my favorite books!

Just brilliant. A small novel whith SUCH a GREAT plot progress. I think it's going to be my new bedside reading in bad times. My favorite thing about the book it's this proposed concept about how we can't save others from suffering.
One of those books that gave me all the answers when I needed them most. Made the bus trips to and from University completely different. The sun races felt like glitter on my skin. Once I had a long conversation with someone right after reading it and i found it changing both of us. I did really, really like it.

This book made me reflect on so many aspects of my life: letting go, generational trauma, the benefit of taking time for myself. I very much enjoyed Siddhartha story and seeing how he grows over time. I can’t believe this book sat unread on my shelf for almost 10 years!
