I hope they make this into a movie solely for the Sound of Music improv musical number they do.

I’m not sure I needed another Guncle. I liked it, but felt a little like I’d read it before. Sometimes the humor is a lot

I was so disappointed after the long wait. The magic and fun were missing. We are left to slog through Europe listening to trite Guncle advice to the now whiny kids. It was hard to find anything to like about this.
Slow through the middle with a really beautiful ending

The 10 hour audiobook is well read by the author. This is the follow-up book to his original “The Guncle”. (In that funny and sentimental book a gay uncle takes his nephew and niece, ages 6 and 9, for the summer after his brother‘s wife dies of an illness.)
This book occurs five years later with the kids ages 11 and 14 as their father is getting married in Italy. Their uncle travels with them while his brother prepares for the wedding. It is not quite as good as the first one, as it becomes more sappy, whiny and the 14-year-old girl is just mean at times. But it’s still about life and love and ends well enough.
