This was an enjoyable book, honestly. I like P&P retellings/reimaginings, and this has been my favorite so far. Lara S. Ormiston was able to capture so much of the chemistry between Elizabeth and Darcy in a way that I haven't found elsewhere before, except in the '05 movie.

This was a very enjoyable "what-if" retelling of Pride and Prejudice--what if Elizabeth had accepted Darcy's first proposal?
It was originally a fanfic but it polished up pretty well. Not perfect but still very fun to read.

It might take a bit of a stretch to believe that Lizzy would accept Mr. Darcy's insulting proposal, but once you do that, the rest follows well enough.

How would Lizzy's life changed if she accepted that first proposal? How would the couple grow together? This addresses those questions, exploring how unequal affections might grow together over the course of an engagement. It's a sweet love story, full of passion (and more than a few misunderstandings.) Darcy is rather tormented by Lizzy's lack of love, which he assumed he had--but the torment serves to bring him into a kinder, more tolerant frame of mind. An excellent read for P&P fans.

This was such an interesting twist of Pride and Prejudice. If you ever wandered what would have happened if Elizabeth Bennett had never turned down Mr. Darcy's original proposal, back when he was still proud and unpleasant and Elizabeth didn't love him, than this is the book you need to read.

I liked how it still kept lines and events from the original book, just slightly altered a bit. This is by for the closest rewrite in Jane Austen's style I've ever seen. There were, of course, some noticeable differences, but it was still SO good. I love Austen so I"m a sucker or a good rewrite, especially of Pride and Prejudice.

This was definitely one of those books that sucks you in and doesn't let you go. There were times when it was a little sad or uncomfortable to read because I wanted Elizabeth to love Darcy as she should. However, for the most part it was was just very good writing and overall enjoyable.

If you aren't ready to let go of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy, then this is the book you need to read next. It will definitely fill in the holes those characters left in you when you weren't ready to let go of them.

4/5 stars!

I really enjoyed this. Its a fun and different way to engage with the original story. I thought the author did a great job writing in the style of Jane Austen, and I felt like it gave a new perspective on the characters and the story.

One of the best retellings of Pride and Prejudice around! Mr. Darcy will make your heart flutter as he makes Elizabeth slowly fall in love with him. Well written, funny and romantic! The author also wrote one of the best “Elizabeth set down Darcy” moments I have ever read. It took Darcy 2 days to come to terms with his manners towards her family and friends after that!

This is my first time ever reading a [b:Pride and Prejudice|1885|Pride and Prejudice|Jane Austen|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320399351l/1885._SY75_.jpg|3060926] variant/re-telling and I'm afraid this book might have set the bar too high. It was, utterly charming. I was smiling and giggling the whole way through.
The characters truly did feel like the Lizzy and Darcy we've come to know and love; and the way that Ormiston explored their feelings and their blooming relationship felt real and ultimately led to a very satistyfing conclusion.
My only complain was that the book was not longer, I would have loved to stay with this story for even longer!
Beautifully written, beautifully re-imagined. Any Austen fan yearning for more Lizzy and Darcy would not be dissapointed.

I love this book not only because I love the original but I love the idea of a deeper insight into Lizzy‘s growing affection for Mr. Darcy in a different light.
