This book was SO MUCH FUN. Such a great retelling. 10/10 would recommend to all my fellow Pride and Prejudice loving girlies out there.

Very fun. Captured the voice of Austen well. Love the depiction of Elizabeth.

I was in a P&P mood, wanted to read it, but wanted it to feel new again, and this quite fit the bill. I suppose this would have been dull had it truly been the second half of P&P, but as an alternative ending, it was quite interesting, asking and answering the question if Lizzy had accepted Darcy when he first asked, would he have been happy?

I kept waiting for this to turn into more than it was, and was disappointed when it didn't go anywhere.

Unequal Affections imagines how the relationship between Lizzie and Darcy would have played out had she accepted his first proposal. It was well done with the actions of the characters feeling true to them and some plot points from original being worked in. I found the exploration of how Darcy and his pride would cope with Lizzie not loving him to be perceptive and I enjoyed seeing her feelings bloom prior to the wedding. This was slightly steamier than the original - but tame by today’s standards. It felt true to Austen’s world and style but it was a little too long in places.
