For the most part, I enjoyed this retelling. The writing (language and style) largely felt in-keeping with the original, though there were a few instances where it felt a little forced/awkward.

The story focuses on Darcy and Elizabeth, and though was mostly from Elizabeth's perspective, we did get to see bits from Darcy's point of view. The background characters (Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, the Bennet sisters, Bingley's sisters, and Georgiana) felt very accurately portrayed and given little extra hints of depth
the vignettes Elizabeth shares with Darcy to defend her friends from him, Mary getting some extra page-time, etc
. Wickham get to be more slippery
and we as the readers get the satisfaction of seeing Darcy tell him off

Darcy and Elizabeth felt a little less convincing to me, but they're also in such a vastly different setting than in the original, which didn't give us much of a glimpse of them after the final proposal. The broad strokes felt pretty true to the source, but personally a lot of the details just didn't fit quite right to me. Had this been a more total retelling (having some content rewritten prior to diverging point to more solidify this version of the characters might have helped this point).

Mostly, I think this was just a bit longer than it needed to be. It covers the events of the second half-ish of Pride and Prejudice, but in more pages than the whole of the original. There also felt like a lot of repetition - particularly of Darcy coming to Elizabeth's family/a social gathering, him acting aloof, Elizabeth getting annoyed, and then instead of talking about it they just...go for a walk and let it simmer. In the original, a lot of the character development happens off-page (for Darcy) or because of sudden insights (for Elizabeth), and this development happens more on-page in this version...but it still could probably have been tightened up a bit, so that more time could be spent on other aspects of the story that tie in to the plot. Personally, I would have loved a little more development to the interaction between Bingley and Darcy...let Bingley be mad! Let Darcy reflect on how he behaved as a friend! Give us a deeper story of friendship there!

Overall, it was a quick read and overall enjoyable. I'd mostly recommend it to people who like retellings over people who are strictly Austen fans.
