A really great variety of stories, all with a questionable undertone of humor in situations that don’t need it and occasional stereotypical statements about culture and race.

Charming and irreverent, painfully both self aware and vain, an easy read of 9 stories from Babitz's life in LA. Enjoyed the reading but wouldn't be a five star because the perspective and observations are very rich, white, and privileged but it's enjoyable at face value.
