While not a tennis nut, I am of course a fan of Ash Barty. In some ways, not knowing her wins and losses made this book even more thrilling - when she described her hard moments in games I honestly didn't know if she was going to win or lose. I loved the format of her story, flicking between the two time periods, and learning about all she went through in the elite tennis world. Her honest, hardworking, uniquely Aussie spirit was a delight to read.

Written in her authentic voice at the end of the book and end of chapters. Has an interesting story but it is (obviously) revolving around tennis, which I personally have not much interest in.

I cried when Ash won the Aus Open. Story/writing isn’t as good as the fictional Carrie Soto, but she’s real and one of us - go Ash! 3🐯
