To get what you want, you have to know exactly how much you are willing to give up.

As serialized books go, there's something called "second-book syndrome", wherein a writer fails to write a second book that will live up to the first one.  Well, this book doesn't suffer from this syndrome. It was better than the first, even. This book is the one that shows that the arguments used for criticizing in a negative way the first fell apart (I addressed these arguments in my review of Captive Prince). The relationship between the main characters starts to be a more equal one and the plot continues to be interesting as the first one, with a well-structured structure and plot twists that fall into place at the right moment.

This is truly one of my favorite series! I completely recommend it!

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. Damen and Laurent stole my heart so fast. I love them as characters but I also adore how they compliment each other. They have a very fragile balance that is weakened by their relationship as master/slave, and by the fact that Damen hides his true identity, but at the same time it is reinforced by the obvious care they have for one another and the building trust between them. Their relationship is so interesting and compelling.
Im obsessed.
The war building up and exploding in the end was something I really liked and, obviously, it serves as a good cliffhanger for the next book. The latest revelation about the regent and Kastor were, not THAT unexpected but still shocking.
I liked everything about this book, it was a great read, and Im dying to read the next one.
(also Laurent's cleverness is something I will never get tired to read).
