SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT

I say spoiler alert for those who, like me, are actually reading the books before watching the HBO series. When Robb and Catelyn were killed I stopped reading and couldn't pick up the book for about a week because I was so upset that 2 more of my favorite characters were killed! If you know me, you know I'm Team Stark all the way so you also know it's been hard to stay a fan of this series because this family doesn't have the best luck in the happiness and staying alive department. After I got over my pique for again killing off my favorite family members, I started reading again and finished the book of 1221 pages in 2 days! GOOD! The ending was so good and out of the blue surprising I absolutely cannot wait to read A Feast For Crows. George Martin rules!

"Could you bring back a man without a head? Just the once, not six times. Could you?"

I am absolutely speechless. This book is just perfection. It's definitely my favorite of the series so far. I have no idea where to start with this review. So much happened, and my feelings are all over the place.

"My skin has turned to porcelain, to ivory, to steel."

Let's start with my favorite girl, Sansa. As usual, I loved loved her povs, but my heart was constantly breaking for her. The way she was so happy about how pretty she looked in her new dress and was then told she's to marry horrible Tyrion Lannister after having hope she'd marry kind and sweet Willas Tyrell, and how she thought she's finally escaping the Lannisters' wrath just to be stuck with mfing Littlefinger and her crazy aunt. My girl deserves a break. I wanna say, though, it was so satisfying how she refused to kneel for Tyrion during the wedding, I wish they kept it the same in the show.

Next, we have Jaime Lannister. I was very happy we got his pov, especially since we got a closer look at his thoughts and how he feels about being 'Kingslayer'. He's such a complex and interesting character to analyze. His relationship with Brienne and how it progressed had me screaming. I am eternally rooting for them.

Now, another one of my favorite girls, Arya. Her reunion with Harwin had my heart clenching. I sometimes forget how extremely young she is, but that scene was a reminder of that. And the way she thought Robb might not pay her ransom....tears. I also loved her scenes with Lady Smallwood, although brief. I feel like Arya really needed some sort of motherly love after being away from her mom and family surrounded by men for god knows how long, and Lady Smallwood was so sweet to her calling her brave and pretty:( Of course, her scenes with The Hound were iconic, one of my favorite duos.

And of course....The red fucking wedding. My heart broke to a million pieces yet again. I honestly don't know what to say. I just love Robb so much like he's just so young and he didn't deserve any of the shit that happened to him. His last word being Greywind, and Catelyn's last thought being about how Ned loved her hair....heart shattered to a million pieces. At least we got Lady Stoneheart though. I am excited to read more about her in the next books.

He wanted it, Jon knew then. He wanted it as much as he had ever wanted anything. I have always wanted it, he thought, guiltily. May the gods forgive me. It was a hunger inside him, sharp as a dragonglass blade.

Obviously, I loved Jon's povs, he's definitely one of my top favorite characters. His adventures beyond the wall and at the wall after his return were so fun to read, but to be honest, I didn't really care for Ygritte, just like I didn't care for her in the show. I freaking loved that in the book, we see Jon's desire to be the Lord of Winterfell and rise high in the world. It's much more interesting than the whole 'I am just a bastard I don't want anything' bit the show went for tbh.

I also enjoyed Dany's povs a lot more than in the previous books, like that's mother for real. Also, Davos owns my heart. I love that old man. Sooo many differences from the show....like tell me why Loras Tyrell is actually a really well-written character, but they did him so dirty in the show?
Bran's povs weren't my favorite this book tbh, and, surprisingly, I liked Samwell's povs more than I thought I would. Oh, also, Tyrion literally went from being my favorite character in the show to the bottom of the list, lol.

Overall, it's a 100000/5 book. JUST SO GOOOOD. George is an absolute genius.
