This was a quick palatte cleanser in between working through all the Harlequin Romantic Suspense books I've got.

Dominic Sharpe is an American at exclusive British high school Castlemare High. He and his friend Andrew find a skull in nearby grounds. When police and archaeologists descend, they uncover a mysterious set of thirteen circles, which date back to 1696. And that just happens to be around the same time that Alizon Nowells was hung for being a witch! Could someone at the school be seeking to raise her so that she can carry out her revenge on her killers' ancestors?

At a scant 133 pages, this was too brief to have much of an impact, but what was there was quite fun. This is one of those books that could have benefitted from being longer in order to explore and flesh out all the themes at hand. I mean, who doesn't love a witch-back-from-the-dead-seeking revenge plotline? I actually wished there had been more to it. It's quite predictable, but there are a couple of enjoyably spooky moments, and the very brief page count means that you aren't left with any time to be bored.

This is part of the Horror High series from the 90s. Books 1 to 8 were American and written by various authors under the pseudonym Nicholas Adams. Books 9 to 15 were British and written by Nigel Robinson.
