Five stars feels a little strong, but I really did love it by the end. Took me a second to get into it, but once Julian came into the picture I was very compelled. Yadriel was such an awesome protagonist, and it was cool to learn so much about the brujx community. I wish I had paid a bit more attention when he was explaining the legend of jaguar, but I got the gist of it. When they were describing Julian's last day, I was starting to get nervous that the book was going to have a sad ending. I would also want to spend my last day at the beach, loved that part. Especially after the party when they were stargazing on top of the car. The only part I'm still confused about is how yadriel was able to summon Julian's spirit if Julian was still alive? But of course loved the grand finale, when both yadriel and Maritza saved the day in their own respective ways. Obviously a bummer about yadriel's tio cqritza becoming obsessed with the power he never had in turning evil

Loved the three main characters and the supernatural elements based on Latinx mythology. I feel like this story is very important to have in the market. The narrator fit this book very well and the interview between them and the author at the end was adorable and insightful.
