This was an all right read, not great, but not bad either. I like the short chapter-style and I don't have any problems with the story or the characters. But still, it wasn't ...extraordinary

3.5 stars. This is just not my favorite genre. That being said I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. While the plot and how everything came together at the end were quite interesting, I just found that I was minimally invested in the two main characters. And not only because they were morally grey. The backstory about their motivations and why they hated each other just seemed so one note to me. I cared a lot more about the fates of the side characters (Sydney Mitch and Dol ILY).

Remembered liking this and it was available so I reread it and yep, it's good. None of these are good people but you still wanna root for victor and sydney and Mitch. And I was taken by surprise by the ending that the second half of the book accelerated into.
