My only complaint is in what sometimes feels to be repetitive mentions of some themes with a lack of exploration in others. I enjoyed the pacing in the book and the different perspectives given to each character. I've always loved a sadistic villain character, so can't say I'm surprised I enjoyed this read.

While I think so far I like the Darker Shade of Magic series better, this was a fun and unique read! I’m looking forward to the next one.
