I liked the atmosphere and vibes, but the plot ended up being pretty lackluster and the twist was just "okay" at best. I suspected what the twist was upon reading the hints and foreshadowing, and it turned out I was right. Not all the specifics, but I guessed immediately what the main gist of it was going to be.

Also, while this didn't affect my rating, I must warn you that, while the book justifiably portrays male-perpetrator SH and SA, it sort of doesn't acknowledge similar actions as SH or SA when the perpetrators are female. People catcalling and harassing the MC and her sisters? That's a no-no. The sisters kissing and touching other people without their consent? Justified and/or empowering. At least that's how it came across to me while I was reading the book.

Maybe worth a read, but I'm sure there are better books with vibes that combine beauty with creepiness.

I loved the vibes of this book

A creepy, haunting read that blew me away. I didn’t know what to expect going into this, and whenever I thought I had a grasp on the story, it threw me off. Brilliant, in the darkest way, and well written, this is the perfect read for October.

That was genuinely creepy and beautifully written. I did guess some of the twists, but they were still rewarding. Overall, emotionally complex, darkly atmospheric, and creative. I really enjoyed this.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the very first page, this book gave the most eerie setting. It’s not eerie in the way you get from a horror movie; it’s romantically eerie. I really liked the atmospheric writing and the overall pacing of the story. I was extremely intrigued by the past of the characters and the present.
Something that drives the book forward is Grey and her manic-pixie-dream-girl-ness. It’s like the author took the regular trope and then made it kind of ironic. Grey is the girl that everyone wants to be but she’s also surrounded by rotten and disgusting things.
I also really liked tyler. (He makes me want a book 2)
The family dynamic is something that changes a lot and it was also very interesting.
Really good writing. Great vibes. Morally GREY characters. Good stuff.
Iris is high key boring though, but that makes her a good narrator.
