Bored

I found this boring and quite a bit far-fetched.

A veces digo cosas ingeniosas...

Book was too long and a bit slow on parts. Good read though.

Cute and sweet historical romance. Nothing too special about it but it was entertaining.

I was looking forward to this one for a while, and it did not disappoint! Willa and her friend Lavinia have been racking up the proposals during their first London season. The trouble for Willa is that she believes she has attracted all her suitors by hiding her true self behind a mask of proper behavior. Willa is very intellectual, loves to read, and entertains a bawdy sense of humor that she shares only with her most intimate friends. She is skeptical when much of London society (especially the ladies) is swooning over the imminent arrival of Lord Alaric Wilde, the second son of a duke and an explorer who has published many accounts of his travels. Alaric does not know, until he arrives in London, that his life's adventures have also made it to the stage in a production called Wilde In Love, which is based on purely fictional, not factual, exploits. Therefore Alaric has become a very public figure, while Willa values a private life above all else. And Alaric is strongly attracted to practically the only woman in England who wants nothing to do with him or his fame. I loved the dialogue, and I loved that this is set in the 1770s in the Georgian era so the author and characters get to make fun of the pumps and the wigs. I found it enchanting that the plot includes an "American sable," commonly known as a skunk. I can't wait for the second in this series!

This story starts off with adventurers, and blue stockings and so much potential. I liked the focus on adventure, curiosities and the theatre. i also thought the bog setting was interesting and new!! There was TONS of discussion about wigs (okay, maybe not tonsss, but several times. Which was surprising to me!).

I liked the story, but was disappointed that the characters did not really develop into better more interesting people, the side relationships did not really grow or change and the friendships were all but forgotten. Even though I often say I read romance because I like to know everything that will happen, in this story everything just sort of fell into place without many interesting turns of events. It was kind of a let down after all the cool events and characters were introduced.

I will never see skunks the same way again. And I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Prudence is a crazy chic.

It was a bit dull in the middle but overall I liked it. Really probably a 3.5.
