A simply story about a young mouse who has just learned to get dressed. (Aren't those buttons tricky!) Mirrors the pride a young child would have dressing herself. Plus the punchline at the end makes it more than a "this is how you get dressed" book.

There is a lot of things for Little Mouse to do to get ready before he goes to visit the barn. This would be great to read to a child who needs help understanding how to get ready in the morning.

It is the promise of a trip to the barn that sets Little Mouse into a frenzy one day. It’s a great idea, but a mouse needs to get ready for such an exciting adventure. Little Mouse Gets Ready follows Little Mouse as he prepares for his excursion, from getting his clothes on just right (Check for the tag. That’s the back.) to anticipating the fun that awaits (Then I’ll find the horses and eat the OATS that they drop on the floor!) The book ends with a surprise that will shock the socks right off of Little Mouse and leave readers asking for more.

This easy-to-read graphic novel combines large illustrations with simple sentences, making for a book that is just-right for emerging readers. Young children will also be able to relate to Little Mouse’s struggles and triumphs in the arduous task of getting dressed. The illustrations are appealing, detailing the expressive mouse’s charming facial expressions and utilizing bright colors to bring his clothes to life. Little Mouse’s environment is illustrated in natural, muted colors, ensuring that the tiny creature doesn’t fade into the background. This Geisel Honor Book would be a great addition to any library and is recommended as an essential purchase.

I originally read this in 2012 and loved it. Still do. It is hilarious.

This book made me laugh out loud in an empty library. The clever ending totally surprised me. It's a perfect introduction to graphic novels for young readers.

Ok, so I guess writing comic books for little people is a hot topic right now. Although slightly more appealing than Benny and Penny (see other review), this book also makes no sense to me. If the idea is to teach little kids how to read a comic book - frames, speech bubbles, etc. - I'm pretty sure we could do this without writing a whole lot of lame books. And why do we have to use graphic novels with beginning readers anyway? Let's save that for when they are more mature readers!

It hasn’t even been four minutes and I’ve already finished. I read this for a challenge but even so, it was actually refreshing. Never really was a bookworm as a kid, so this was something different. It’s simple. Fun.
