I’ve never resonated with a book more. It felt like Jennifer Hartmann reached inside my chest pulled out my ‘still beating’ heart. Much like Halley, I too come from a very abusive household. To read my own feelings and traumas on the page felt like I had been thrust into a Time Machine, and forced to relive the darkest moments in my life. And with that comes the realization that I’m not the scared little girl anymore, but a powerful woman who has a bright future.
I was pulled from the depths of self loathing and depression by an older man, again like the fmc. My love for him wasn’t forbidden, but it did come with its challenges. I know the feeling of not being able to love publicly all too well. This book put all of my feelings into words.
Jennifer Hartmann, I want to thank you for making me feel. Whether it be from nostalgic depression, to feeling seen, or even soul shattering heartbreak for my own lost love. While I normally don’t write reviews, it feels wrong not to encourage you to read this book. It will be one of my forever re-reads.
I can’t wait to meet on the pages again.

Phenomenal
Jennifer Hartmann does not disappoint… this is my second Jennifer Hartmann book, and it was amazing. Even though some of the characters seemed a bit insufferable at some point, they have arcs that just brought them back around to where they needed to be to make the story what it needed to be. Her writing has a way of drawing you in and making you feel like you’re sitting along with the characters as they go through the situations they go through. She has a way of tearing your heart to pieces, then finding a way to heal it all at the same time in the end. Chefs kiss times five! Will definitely dive into another one of her books.

I’ve read plenty of age gap romances - & I’ve only had two that did it for me, birthday girl by Penelope Douglas.. & this:
