It was hard to suspend my disbelief and my own sense of right and wrong in order to enjoy this one. Also, justice for Scotty; I need a happy ending for him too after how badly he was used 😂

I love me a forbidden romance and this is no exception!!!!
I did prefer the other books that I've read by Jennifer but this was still bloody good. She is definately going on my 'binge list'

Unfortunately I just couldn’t get over her being 17 & 18 while he was 34 and how the author justified it by saying the FMC looked older and was mature.
Had she been 19 when they met I would’ve really enjoyed what I’d read l

The chemistry and emotional connection between the mcs is unlike almost anything I’ve ever read
I love when books make me FEEL
And this made me feel all the feelings
Jennifer Hartmann really has a way with words … just wow

I thought it was well written for the most part (though too long) and I didn’t have an issue with the age gap itself, especially given the attraction started before Reed knew Halley’s real age.
The problematic aspect for me was when Reed became aware of who Halley was and her previous trauma, then played the part of father figure while essentially encouraging the attraction Halley had for him.
Ending was also too neat and twee for me to be realistic.

This book was needed to be shorter by like 100 pages. It just kinda dragged on. If you want to read an age gap/taboo romance I recommend "Birthday Girl" by Penelope Douglas over this one.
I just need a minute to process this beautifully masterpiece of a book! 😭🥰
The story had me hooked from the first page with its beautiful writing and emotional depth. The slow-burning romance between Halley and Reed felt so real. Jennifer Hartmann nailed the character development, especially Halley's journey from a past of abuse to finding her strength. The forbidden love aspect added so much tension and kept me glued to the story. The 1990s setting, with its nostalgic musical references, was the perfect backdrop! The age-gap romance, one of my favorite tropes, was done so well and added another layer of depth to their relationship.
