I recently finished "Older" by Jennifer Hartmann, and I have to say, it was quite the emotional journey that I rate at 3.5 stars. The story follows a unique premise that explores themes of love, loss, and personal growth, which resonated with me on many levels. Hartmann’s writing is raw and poignant, capturing the complexities of relationships and the struggles of moving on from past trauma.

I appreciated the depth of the characters; they felt real and relatable, each grappling with their own issues and insecurities. However, there were moments when the pacing dragged a bit, and I wished for a tighter narrative to maintain the emotional momentum. Despite this, the heartfelt moments and character development kept me engaged.

Overall, "Older" is a beautifully written story that tackles heavy themes with grace. While it had its flaws, I found it to be a moving read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys heartfelt contemporary fiction.

Estaba iniciando muy bien, me atrapó, lloré, sentía esa química intensa entres los personajes, pero por ahí por el 60% del libro ya no supe que pasó, me cansaba leer y ya no me atrapaba y se me hizo interminable finalizar con el libro.

I thought I would read a fun age-gap romance and DAMN this was angsty and heart-wrenching. I was ready to jump ship the second there were grooming vibes and that never happened. I really liked this story because, even though it was a form of insta-love that was sort of unrealistic, the emotions and baggage and chaos that these characters go through because of love was so visceral and real. It wasn’t your typical insta-love with no roadblocks. There were impenetrable walls put into place to the point that I honestly didn’t know if love would win in the end. If age-gap isn’t your thing I totally get it but this was a really well-done story that could’ve been creepy in a lot of ways but didn’t strike me as that. There’s a lot of cheesy 90s references throughout this, especially in terms of music, but it gave the story a lot of depth and the callbacks to earlier conversations they had were adorable.

So boring. FMC was annoying.
