Weakest entry in the series so far.

At book 8 I was worried this was going to just be more of the same. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy those tropes, but it was starting to wear a bit thin. I was happy to see the story start to introduce some new ideas and bigger concepts to explore going forward. I'm excited to see what's in store next.

They do it again. The pirates are back doing what they do - saving the world. Unfortunately, there isn't much new it this rendition. Skippy, being magnificent, is the problem. The stories are beginning to all look the same: set up an impossible situation, Bishop thinks of something clever, awesome Skippy pulls it off. While the writing is as snappy as ever we need a bigger challenge. I was hoping to have Joe head back to Paradise. Perhaps next time.
