It was so bad, seen and seen again, I can't even remember the names of the characters. Boring, repetitive, overall just Twilight in disguise.
dark mysterious medium-paced

I've read this once before, years ago, and picked it up again since I couldn't remember the plot. Have you read Twilight? Okay, you've read this book. I remember it being way better the first time I read it. Everyone loves Patch but he's a total creepy Edward, the difference being Edward just wants to drink her blood while Patch just wants to, oh no big deal, SACRIFICE NORA. I'm definitely not the target audience for this book anymore #oldpeopleproblems If you are under the age of 18, this book is for you. I'm still going to continue with the series because there are bits and pieces I remember that are more focused on Patch's past that were pretty interesting.

So the hype surrounding this book has been pretty big and there were definitely high expectations to be met. Point blank; they were.
The mystery aspect had me flipping pages like crazy. I was swept along with Nora, trying to make all the pieces of the puzzle come together. I generally enjoyed her voice, which was easy to relate to and had moments of wonderful wit.
But I'm not going to lie. The true root of my love for this book can be summed up in one word; Patch. It's no secret that I have a thing for bad boys, and any story with one as alluring and cocky as him will have me swooning off my feet before I can rationally evaluate the literary merit of the novel.
The writing isn't perfect and the supporting characters could have been given more depth, but really, who cares? Either way you're in store for a breathtaking ride full of twists and turns and a sexy-and-dangerous guy. Can't go wrong.

YA rating scale: 2.5.

This was a decent YA paranormal. Very quick, light read and enjoyable. There were a few parts that seemed like the author didn't know where she was going with it when she wrote it and had to come up with an explanation at the end that didn't quite work. I'd give examples but I don't want to include spoilers in the review. But overall I liked it and I'll be reading the sequel.

My first "supernatural love story" since Twilight. I found it to be a page turner, and enjoyed the sly humor in some of her writing. Nora reminded myself of me in high school.. Knowing it was a bad situation, but unable to walk away due to curiosity overpowering any decision. Great Story!
