I almost stopped reading when I got to the part where he basically stole the concept of love languages (though he left out MY love language of gifts), but I’m glad I continued. It’s a quick fun book about an old man, Jones, who seems to show up whenever people need help turning their lives around. Besides the love languages info he also combines some “How to Win Friends and Influence People” concepts in this cute and totally fictitious book.
this book was a pretty quick read, but its really good, and does give you perspective, i would recommend this book to anyone. i continually think back to this book and think of all the situations that occur and how every one just need a new person to come in and tell them to view things differently, and things get a million times better almost immediately.
I had to read this book for my social work class, so I wasn't sure what it was going to be about. But this book was great. It gave me a new perspective on many things. Overall, an easy read. But very interesting at the same time.

I didn't really like this man's writing style. Some of his word choices made me cringe. And it wasn't all believable—some of the developments (and dialogue) seemed a little forced.
But I have to at least give this 4.5 stars because every word that came out of Jones' mouth was pure gold. Genius. That man knows more about the mind and the human condition and just the world in general than anyone I've ever met. And he uses his knowledge to help the other characters gain perspective.
And while he's busy doing that, he helps the reader as well.

Loved this book! Will adjust your perspective on decisions and your future in a very positive way.
"The Noticer" is a great inspirational story about how, by just taking a different perspective on our situation, we can pull ourselves out of many of crisis we keep running up against. By having that "Jones" in our life, or that little voice, God's nudging, or whatever you want to call it. Some of what seem to be insurmountable problems can be dealt with in a positive manner. The book at times implies that you can change... just like that, but this is one area that I might disagree. For some people that may be true but for some of us over analytical types it might take a little longer!
I purchased the book for my Kindle along with a pre-order of the sequel... "Noticer Returns". I started out highlighting some of the key insights that Jones was passing onto the various characters but quickly got caught up in the story and simply forgot until the last couple of chapters. I then went back and reviewed each chapter to pull out the nuggets that were used to inspire the characters in a way that they could move their lives beyond the ordinary into making positive impacts for others and themselves.
I look forward to reading about Jones return in the next book.

Not really my kind of book. The advice was good, although not really an epiphany.
Хареса ми като идея, но не и като начин на представяне. Според мен е написана твърде елементарно и повърхностно - предполагам, за да може да "стигне" до всеки. Аз лично не обичам дозите житейска мъдрост да ми се предоставят по този начин - всичко е предъвкано, смляно, ти само отваряй уста и гълтай :)
