Well written and interesting. It gives you an insight into the life at Gloriavale.
Very interesting read. It was a bit slow to get through but I find Fundamentalist Cults like Gloriavale fascinating.

This book is well written for the amount of information and emotions that are both integral to this biography. I liked this biography because it focused on both the good and the bad of the cult experience and it really humanized everyone involved, which I really appreciated.

Lilia's grandfather is a man of God.
Lilia's grandfather is the one who started their home away from others, to keep them safe and also to keep them on their path to Heaven.
Lilia's grandfather is also an evil cult leader.
Lilia Tarawa goes in depth with her experiences within New Zealand's Gloriavale cult, exposing secrets only former members have spoken about (and not what you may have seen on the Gloriavale series).
It's both shocking and stunning that places like this still exist. Lilia and her family escaped, and it was very hard for them to completely sever ties. But with a lot of help, and much research, Lilia brings her gifts with leadership, self-respect, and confidence throughout the book in this frank and interesting memoir. Check out her TED talk.

I'm pretty interested in cults and extremist groups, so this was a good read. I'm so happy she got out and had a happy ending!
