Not a single detail in this book is minor.
Even if the narrator in the second half of the book says it is. Details like being used to bombings and shelling and opening a window to avoid it shattering in an explosion but being upset about the dust. Not minor.

The best book I do not recommend, it is incredibly sad and devastating. Such a tough, but great, read.

Phew, this little novel packs a punch. Adania does a masterful job of narrating from the perspectives of two very different characters. What happened and continues to happen in Palestine is horrific. #FreePalestine

5/5 Stars āļø. Minor Detail is a haunting story told in two parts. The first half is about the assault and murder of a Palestinian girl in 1949. The second half of the book is about a young  Palestinian woman years later occupied Palestine researching the death that happened in 1949. This book is short and undeniably haunting. This book is a window into the horrors that Palestinian women and girls face under occupation from Isnotreal colonizers.

This story gave a good description on living as a Palestinian in occupied Palestine. The simple act of taking interest in local history and wanting to learn more is almost comically inaccessible, let alone trying to do anything else. The symbolism of the story would be really interesting to dissect.
