I liked this book well enough, but jeepers EIGHT YEARS! I would have liked it better if it had been four years. Some of the best romances are based on lack of communication but 8 years got to be ridiculous. I found myself powering through the book just trying to figure out what was Ben's secret. I guessed half of it, the other half was a surprise. But man, if he had just talked to Jo earlier and let her make her own decision. I did love the scene in the Lake District where Jo was getting increasingly incensed and driving back and forth. She was great when she got her gumption up!

Note: I received a free electronic edition of this book via NetGalley in exchange for the honest review above. I would like to thank them, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to do so.

Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Liv and Ben - one chance encounter trying to rescue a cat - sets off a chain of events that last eight years.

Liv meets Ben. She is instantly attracted to him. He seems to be attracted to her. They get locked in a shed and after two hours of sharing her innermost thoughts, issues, etc. she finds out he has a girlfriend (what a jerk!).

This story is all about missed chances, miscommunication (Ben and Liv do not communicate well together) and lots of feelings. When Liv and Ben decide to give themselves "just one night" - - things don't go as planned.

Ok. So this is a bit of a romantic-mystery. Ben has secrets that he is keeping and so while we try to figure it all out, Liv is really confused. If you read Beth O'Leary's "The No Show" - this is a similar type of book. Not an all-right romance: but romance is the underlying theme that keeps the story going.

I don't want to give too much away - but this was super cute. I loved both Ben and Liv. I wish Ben's POV had been shared more often (it's dual POV but not 50/50)- and because it's mostly Liv's story, you really feel like you are in the dark about 90% of the book.

This was a quick read: lots of fun, quick paced and has you cheering for our protagonists to find their HEA.

Recommended. This should make you smile.

This is an easy read, read it in a few hours.
I did find myself getting bored in certain parts. Overall it’s a very sweet book about right person, wrong time and missed chances. I had a good laugh every now and then, the plot is extremely easy to follow.

The ending ruined it for me, Ben leaving with his stupid excuse just didn’t make sense and it felt rushed. I theorised that he left because he was dying, which would’ve made more sense considering how dramatic he was, but nope he’s just infertile and unable to communicate

I enjoyed this book and the back and forth until it turned sexual. I do not enjoy the act of that and I think that it is ruining more and more books. Why can’t there just be a fun romance but not have this detailed moment?
This is just my opinion and I hope it helps those who only want a clean romance.

Another Time, Another Place by Jo Lovett

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

The best people in life are worth the wait... When Liv finds herself locked in a shed with handsome stranger Ben (after they try to rescue a cat together), the instant connection they make feels like fate had a hand in it. Has Liv finally found her perfect match? But everything about the timing means there’s no way they can be together. Not least because Ben has a girlfriend and Liv is moving from London to Paris the next day. Over the coming years their paths weave in and out of each other’s lives – together, but always fleetingly. If only they could stop missing each other, who knows what fate may have in store for them…

My Opinion

I think this is the third book I have read by Jo Lovett and what an adorable read it was. I really enjoyed how Liv and Ben bonded whilst trapped in a shed- you really have to read it just to discover how that happened. I read the majority of this book in just a few hours as I was determined to not put it down. It grabbed me right from the start and didn't let go until the very end.

Liv and Ben crossed paths for eight years and Lovett has told a delightful story about what happened each time they crossed paths. A joy to read and a lovely escape from reality.
