That was an interesting book. It reminded me a lot of that movie, Final Destination. The first one though, when everything was fresh and surprising and totally original. That's how I felt after reading Brightest Kind of Darkness. It was a super interesting story line, with some pretty interesting characters.
I liked Nara, she seemed like a brave and kind person. I think her family is made up of some colorful people and I think a lot more about them will be revealed in the following books. Ethan was super cool. He was all dark, mysterious and tortured. I really liked that he was really never an ass, he might have been quiet or reserved but he didn't follow the typical male chauvinist bad boy mold that so many books put out there now. He was always sweet, caring and genuine, he just didn't let everyone know it all the time. I can't wait to find out more about what Ethan's powers are and where they come from! He was super interesting and Some of the stuff he saw was chilling. It makes me want to start reading the next book immediately!

Brightest Kind of Darkness is soo good! Seriously, I loved this book. The premise is fresh and such a cool idea! Plus it is more complex than it initially seemed. I still have no idea what is going on with Ethan. You get answers in layers, and I want more, more, more. All I know is that I LOVED him. I just started reading book 2, Lucid because I need to know what is going to happen next.
Nara dreams her whole next day. How different and awesome/scary is that? I can't decide for the life of me if I would love or hate this gift. I think I would like it, no matter how creepy it might be, because I always like knowing things over not knowing. I applaud her willpower too. She normally always stays out of things. Meaning, she lets life take its natural course. But then one day, she steps in to save some lives and that is when the book takes off from. It is action right from page 1. I was so engrossed in the story the whole time. Ethan is so freakin' perfect for Nara it is crazy. I love seeing the two of them interact.
The writing is excellent, the plot is so intriguing, and the characters are awesome! I had to think long and hard before even coming up with anything critical to say about Brightest Kind of Darkness because I really enjoyed the book. I got sucked in right from the start and I just kept reading until I was done. But I did finally come up with something- Lainey. She was so quick to give up and turn her back on her best friend. She eventually came around and realized how uncool and rude she was, but it still bugged me to see Nara isolated like that.
I can't wait to get back to Lucid and see what is going on with Ethan, Nara and the whole gang. I have a feeling that way more is going on with Ethan than even he knows about. If you are looking for a mysterious paranormal, the Brightest Kind of Darkness series is one that I would wholeheartedly recommend for you to check out! I have fallen in love with it.

Loved this book! It was such a nice departure from what I'm use to reading. This was a fantastic read; it kept me on my toes and guessing throughout. I cannot wait to read the sequel !!
Brightest Kind of Darkness is an unusual Paranormal story - and the good kind of unusual. Inara is precognizant - she can see her next day in her dreams, down to every last detail. Except for the presence of Ethan who has psychic powers of him own. Normally, Inara never changes the incidents in her dreams when it comes to someone else, but a particular event changes her decisions. In the past, worse things have happened when she tried to change the outcome for someone else, but now, strange things start happening to those who 'survived' the incident.
The plot has a very Final Destination like feel to it. The characters don't keep dying (thank goodness) but they still get into accidents, almost like Fate wants to set their path on course. However, Inara starts to feel a malevolent presence during the times she starts to change others' destinies. Together, Ethan and Inara try to figure out what is happening and they get closer. Their romance was, well, in a word, sweet. I had read the short story before this book and loved the character of Ethan so much. He is protective but not in the alpha male way. He also has some powers of his own and a mysterious tattoo on his back and some strange relation with ravens (which I hope is explained in Lucid).
Its' a good thing that I can read the next book in the series immediately, because I can't wait for the next nail-biting-good installation.

I haven't finished a book in one days since the 90's. This book was such a great read and so breathtaking I just couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the sequal.
