I was absolutely blown away by the uniqueness and thrills of Brightest Kind Of Darkness. It was one of those books where I couldn't put it down until I finished (cough 4am cough).
We start off with Nara Collins who every night dreams her entire next day. So that makes her the best soccer goalie, get great grades, and avoid things she may not want to see. Pretty neat, eh? It would be... until she dreams a bomb threat at her high school and she knows she must intervene. But, after that her dreams start disappearing and her friends are starting to get hurt. While struggling with that, loner boy, Ethan Harris actually starts to talk to her. Ethan and Nara mysteriously start to become completely drawn to each other and they may just be the key to each others darkness.
After reading a book like this, sometimes I really wonder... why is this book an indie? Did the author decide to just be indie, did companies really not want to pick up this wonderful story? Whatever the answer, Brightest Kind Of Darkness is a brilliant read. I absolutely love the way she matched our two main characters with their unique abilities. The darkness of the story. The raw and real every day things that happen through out the story. Mean high school teens, friends, cheating, parties, special abilities, family issues, romance... it's all so perfectly weaved.
I live for troubled boys. I swear I do. It's like hardwired into my brain. I absolutely adore boys who have such turmoil, who had a dark past, the ones who under all of that torture is a huge heart. I loved them way too much. I just want to take them and hold them and love them. And Ethan is one of those boys. With his bright blue eyes, mysterious ways, kind heart, and dark past. I loved getting to know him. I loved watching him and Nara together, trying to piece together their own puzzle.
I also love the little animal aspect thrown in. I adore animals to the core. And tattoos, mmm I've been on a tattoo kick lately, so reading about them makes me kind of excited. Especially when they're on a sexy, blue eyed-boy ;).
Brightest Kind Of Darkness is an entrancing read, that will have you begging to know what comes next in the story. I know I cannot wait for book2!

Ι was really REALLY glad when this book got finally in my hands! An original story with mystery, well detailed descriptions and with Fate in its center.
Inara has the ability to see her future ahead a day in her dreams (which is cool and crepy for me). Yet when she meets Ethan and at the same time stops a bombing at her school everything changes. She and her classmates get into accidents and Ethan becomes her protector.
Ethan also has his own demons and i hope to get more of him into the second book. Surprisingly sweet, emotion and mysterious "Brightest kind of darkness" will make you love it!

Well this was a real page turner and interesting read. I must know what happens next with Nara and Ethan. I loved the book and characters.
4.5 stars!
A big THANK YOU to the author for providing me a copy for review. I couldn't put this book down. I was more tired than my kids their first day of school because I knew if I stopped reading I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway because I wanted to know what was going to happen next.
To know what was going to happen to you the day before, how cool would that be? To actually dream the next day, even cooler. Knowing if the boy you were checking out was going to talk to you, to know if your team was going to win or not, what halls to avoid, etc. To have this happen for years than almost as suddenly just stop. How confusing and at loss one would be to live the unknown like every other person. Than to meet a guy, one who makes your heart flutter, who is there like a knight in shining armor, the kind of guy who isn't like the others, who you want to know more about, who you are drawn to, than to find out that he's the reason your dreams have stopped. Why? If I told you, what fun would that be? Two young lovers, one dreams of the future, one dreams of darkness, one has the courage to stand up to Fate, one is there to provide strength. Who will be left standing?
The story grabbed me from the first paragraph and never let go. I could feel the doubts, the heartaches, the need, the love, the pain, the coldness and the lightness. Some of the story reminded me of the movie Final Destination, but the author creates so much more, takes it that one step further that brings it from good to superb. I can't wait to read the second book in the series, Lucid.

I received this book from the author for review. Here are my honest thoughts:
So yeah.. I read this book in about 8 hours. It wouldn't have taken so long but I'm pretty easily distracted. However, I did keep coming back to this book because I didn't want to put it down. I wanted more with each turn of the page (or swipe of the finger.. whatever). This story is imaginative, unique, and almost like a new version of Final Destination without being so graphic and gory.
Nara dreams her entire next day each night until she meets Ethan, the new kid at school. They finally have a conversation the morning she calls in a tip about a bomb threat at her school, which she dreamed about the night before. Things go slightly downhill from there, but Ethan's friendship is more than she expected. Can they put all the pieces together in order to put her life back on track? Hmm.. ;o)
There were some editing issues, missing punctuation marks, misspellings of names. This book is very well written, though, so none of that stopped me. And this story is pretty fresh and creative. The pacing is just fine, the story always moves forward, and I was never lost or truly confused. I was kept guessing until the end, and I totally want the sequel like now. Great "paranormal" YA read!

50 Shades of Twilight... The story was so compelling: A young girl whondreams her next day every night when she sleeps. I was very quickly dissapointed. The book was written like a screen play with absolutely no character's habits left to the imagination or tomfreat writing - absolutely everything is explained. And then I realised this was a YA book. Once I realised that I was reading a YA, I decided to ignore the sloppy writing because the plot was fairly compelling and my OCD was dying to know what happens. By book 3 however, I am willing to let this go.
I will review 3 books in one: This is another Edward and Bella. In my opinion not the type of books I want my daughter to read. If she wamts she can watch the movie but I would be sad for her if she wasted her time on reading a book like this. There are many inconsistencies, the romantic scenes could be drastically lessened (it's like the writer envisioned 5 books, and is now trying to fill the gaps with porn), and the alternate storytelling voices as of book 3 is not a talent this writer has. I am also a little worried by these characters that are created that can do everything, are beyond gorgeous and have very little flaws. Oh! and treat their girlfriends like objects at which no other man may ever look.
The best thing about these books though is that they I have made me realise that I will have to read the books my daughter wants to read. Not that I want to keep her from the mainstream, but I would love it if she had stronger female roll models, better taste in books, as well as a more realistic idea of what love is all about. The last thing a teenager needs is a book like this.

3.5 stars. I picked this up as a free Kindle download (it's no longer free) ... on of those offerings hoping to get a reader hooked so they buy the sequels. I'm really torn. I did like this book. It was unique in its dreaming the day/living the day idea. I liked the characters.
The whole FATE thing ... personified as a person ... I just didn't care for that. It was weird. And a little frustrating to have this gift (future sight) and then not use it to help people (that was similar to another recent read "13 Day Until Midnight" and it frustrated me there too). The hints of the static ... I knew it had to mean something. I guess the sunglasses were explained but still not enough to have it be a thing throughout the book.
So the sequels ... this series is not carried by my library, they aren't kindle unlimited(prime) ... so I'd have to BUY them. They aren't as expensive as some, but also not the $.99/$1.99 of some start up series. As I finished the book, I didn't LOVE it that much, nor feel compelled to continue really, but all the reviews are quite high I'm a little intrigued. I'm just so cheap ... it's hard to justify even a $5 purchase when I have so many books at my fingertips for free.

I really enjoyed the over-all book. I had an interesting story line and concept. It felt very cliche in it's portrayal of the characters as teens in angst and I found myself a little lost with unanswered questions throughout the book even until the end. I don't regret reading it, but I'm not biting at the bit to read the sequel.
Teen angst only dark. Nara dreams her day and then it happens. She fights against the terrible things that “will” happen, until she goes too far. Along the ride, she meets Ethan, a beautiful dark edgy dude. Together, they try to beat the darkness. And now on to all the rest in the series!
I liked this book far more than I thought I would. I got it for free from amazon kindle. The writing was just adequate but the plot was good and the characters were great:well drawn, realistic and likable. It engaged my emotions and left me ready to know more. Bring on the next one!
