it was nice to have a close look at an astronaut's life and to see what it takes to lead a life like that. the book was really easy to read. it helped me put in to perspective the history aspect of all that was happening.
*even though it made it more interesting and funny, it bothered me a little how detailed it was because I kept telling myself "no way he actually knows all this for a fact!"

For those of us who lived through this time, it was a powerful jog to the memory. For those who didn't it is a potent reminder of just how fragile our accomplishments were!

A nice little back story to the Apollo missions; even some play-by-play. I hope to also read "Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13" by Jim Lovell as a follow up to this book.

Fascinating account that I'd never paid much mind to even though I knew Apollo 11 was only the end of a much longer journey. The intimate details that have been pieced together really make the entire book a pleasure to read and I definitely intend to seek out the books referenced in the author's note. The pictures at the end are a nice bonus.

So interesting!

Beautifully written chronicle of the first voyage to bring mankind to another celestial body. Not a book for everyone, but unmissable for every space enthusiast. / Cronaca (scritta benissimo) del primo viaggio che ha portato l'umanità ad un altro corpo celeste. Non è un libro per tutti, ma è imperdibile per chiunque sia interessato all'astronautica.

One word to describe this book: earthrise

reread report: i thought i would enjoy this less just because i'm no longer in my apollo brainrot phase, but my god, the writing is just so engaging that i still got swept along

also, this is a christmas book and you can't tell me otherwise
