Marvellous, magnificent, magical. As usual from Kate Atkinson. I hope she is busy writing another novel right now

I really enjoyed this audiobook; Jason Watkins's narration was brilliant! A bit hard to keep all the characters and their stories straight at the beginning, and the ending felt a bit rushed (as they often do) but all in all a very enjoyable listen.

4.5 rounded up.

Somewhat interesting plot idea but took a long time for the action to get going. Overall, just ehh feeling

I had high hopes for this as the premise seemed really interesting but it just didn't deliver. The writing was decent but the big problem was nothing had happened by the time I was half way through, the story hadn't progressed at all from the first couple of chapters. Viewpoints switched between chapters which probably didn't help with developing the story but the big problem for me again was that it wasn't clear how these characters connected meaning I felt like I was reading separate stories.

I love Kate Arkinsons's writing. She uses genre conventions, but rises above them without being pretentious. This book pretends to be a mystery set in post WWI London, but as usual for her it's so much more and well worth the read.
