Kate Atkinson’s style of writing is so strong, but this story got a little convoluted at times. Interesting time period and settings, Peaky Blinders adjacent (Nellie had some Polly vibes for sure), but a few too many characters/storylines had me feeling a little more detached.
adventurous

4.5/5 rounded up.

I got this on a whim from the library and I'm glad I did, because it paid off! Witty, dazzling, fast-paced and mysterious. I always doubt that I'm going to like novels set in the 1920s but this one did not disappoint. The characters were all well-developed and multidimensional and it was a perfect balance of their perspectives.

This was so enjoyable and on audio it was really entertaining.

Not my favorite.

Too long. Too many characters that don’t add anything.
Sadly disappointing.

Superb. Underbelly of 1920s London.

I enjoyed this book but found it very rambling to start took me a while to follow the various interconnected threads
I’d didn’t think it was good as previous books by the author
Life after life, and a god in ruins.

In the beginning I was overwhelmed with the number of characters and seemingly unrelated story lines but stay with it - I couldn't put the last quarter of the book down.
