This was a great story. I love how you get a glimpse into Hannah's Nigerian culture and family. There's also a great emotional aspect with her father dying and getting to know her family. And then the love story with her and Lawrence. The family stuff (for lack of a sexier way to put it) was my favorite part. Coming from a complicated type family, I can appreciate how emotions run high and communicating and forgiving. So great. And how childhood trauma can affect our adult lives and the magic that can happen when you try to heal it and move forward.
Honestly, there's so many layers to this story and they're all crafted honestly and realistically, sometimes funnily, without being over the top, which is a really hard balance to achieve for me. Jane Igharo is a fabulous writer and I'm sad I hadn't heard of her books sooner.
