So far I’ve read the first three books of the Locke & Key series and I’ve fallen in love with it and it’s characters. The story is captivating and the character design and development is fantastic. It follows the Locke children Taylor, Kinsey and Bode as they try to move on from the murder of their father, find a place in his hometown, and uncover the secrets of the Locke house. The books explore grief and trauma so there are quite a few trigger warnings but it is an awesome world to explore with compelling characters and a surreal magic system so I recommend it if you like darker more tense stories.

It had an interesting premise, however I think that personally it was way too gory for me to be able to enjoy the story. Also I detest plots that only work because the characters do stupid things and that is a large part of this plotline.

I think this has cemented that horror is just not the genre for me.
