This book is VERY similar to The Other Mrs. Parish, by Liv Constantine, and The Other Mrs. Parish, is much better with the storytelling, and writing.

However, I will say that I enjoyed the  difference in ending, with this story because
That sociopath husband Andy, deserved to suffer in that room, after literally locking up his wife SEVERAL TIMES, and then the maid Millie!! What was unexpected was that he ended up dying. How did he, the torturer become the tortured? Because after he locked Millie in the tiny attic room for leaving 3 books out on the table, she found pepper spray that Nina planted for her, ultimately hoping that Millie would unalive Andy. AND SHE DID! Because Mille maced Andy when he finally opened the door and went near her, so Millie was able to mace him enough to grab his phone, and lock Andy up! Since the door was old and locked from the outside, Millie tortured him for 6 days. And when Nina went back to the house thinking Millie was in trouble, she ends up taking responsibility for Andy’s death because she felt bad for putting Nina in such a horrible position with Andy.
There was a lot of justice being served in this book, and it’s the justice that makes this book worth a read.

However I will say that I DID NOT like that Millie was already falling for Andy. It doesn’t even take much and she’s wowed🤔? Not realistic!

All in all, I enjoyed reading this watered down version of The Other Woman.  I think what makes it stand out, is the ending. Plus the narrator does a great job with the text.

Started slow but glad I stuck with it. Interesting. 3.5*

'The housemaid' by Freida McFadden is a book that I'd seen mentioned on social media many times, so my expectations were quite high. The book was well written in a style that I really like and I felt like the characters were realistic. I did get annoyed at some of them quite a lot, but this only enhanced my experience reading this book. I feel like McFadden can really trick a reader into thinking they know what's going on. I loved the fact that I could've never guessed how the story would turn out at the beginning of the book. The book grabbed my attention and I could not get it out of my head until I'd finished the book and all my questions were answered. I really liked the book and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
