Mormonism is weird...

It takes a bold and talented author to use both the words “capitulate” and “intransigent” in the last paragraph of a book.

So amazing, incredible, docked one star bc Andrew Garfield isn’t in the novel.

I am not a fan of Jon Krakauer’s writing but the facts that he shared in this book were interesting enough to keep me coming back.

Disclaimer- I haven’t done any other research so I’m just going off the facts as Jon K provided.

First off, Joseph Smith - His back story is nuts!

Some examples
He started his religion on ‘Seeing’ rocks/ magic rocks

The Golden book (bible) that no one actually has seen and it ironically disappeared

He used his magic rocks to decode the golden book

Basically he made all that sh*t up because all the historical references were proven to be fabricated.

It was crazy also how he told this one guy that “god wanted him to sell his farm “ so he could pay for the printing of the Book of Mormon. And the guy did it!!

Obviously Joseph Smith was convincing!

I was so drawn in by the first two thirds of this book, but then it really started to drag and feel like I was reading the same thing over and over toward the end... Regardless, The writing was excellent, and Krakauer clearly did his research.
