slow-paced

This is one of the most boring books I’ve ever read. I’ve enjoyed all of Krakauer’s other books, but this was a slog.
slow-paced

Thought this would be more focused on the 1984 case and not the entire history of the Mormon church, written by someone who clearly does not like any religion in general.

I honestly didn’t know what this book was going to be like going into it. But, I was met with great writing that covered sensitive topics with grace. This book was highly informative, and could be a bit slow at times. But, I’m glad I read it, and would recommend to anyone interested in the Mormon history.

I thought it was going to focus more on these two brothers who murdered their other brothers wife and child. But it's only part of the story. It gives a very detailed history and discussion about extreme Mormonism from its founding days up until current day. So I was slowed down a bit by all the names and trying to remember who was who. There is so much I never knew, like the Mormon/US battles. And it looks at other religious radicals and society as a whole. So while a bit heavy with names and dates it's interesting and informative nonetheless.

A somewhat biased, parallel history of the Mormon religion and present-day murders committed by Mormon Fundamentalists; interesting, but only presents one side of the Mormon faith.
