This was a well-written, emotive romance. I enjoyed it, but found it annoying how many misunderstandings and clashes could've been avoided by people simply communicating their wants and needs.

Cute, lighthearted, rom com with a sitcom cast of characters.

The cast is in their final season where they no longer are living in college or all together in the same city - very HIMYM and are together for one last hurrah. They all in their own right need therapy, and communication skills but are still a fair representation of most humans.

I love a “fake dating” trope, and this was interesting as the 2 had been dating up until very recently.

I enjoyed the book it was cute and fun. And at the end there was some true communication between all parties.

Not bad, but not as great as I’d been told it was.

I found it hard to root for the romance at the beginning, because we don’t actually know much about their relationship/why they broke up for quite some time, so any (sexual) tension e.g.
the cellar scene
just seemed a bit random. Relatedly, @Harriet:
”vengeful grinding” isn’t sexy, it’s weird! He broke up with you! Pls stop!
.

Chapter 23 i.e.
Harriet and Wyn at Harriet’s home
was a turning point. It was great, and so were the chapters after that - emotional explorations of their break up,
mental health struggles, grief, pressure from your family
etc. Absolutely had me hooked.

But the ending kind of let me down again. The way I was screaming
”no girl, pls don’t start a pottery job! Please don’t make the first thing we see you enjoy your new destiny!“
- it just became cliche, but not in a good way. I also didn’t like how
Chloe’s pregnancy kind of became the main reason for her & Sabrina drifting apart. I thought the original argument was way more interesting

The side characters were likeable. The writing was generally good, aside from the “I said - he said” repetitions in dialogue. Whelan’s audio narration was great. Overall, I feel like I might’ve liked this more if I’d related to the characters’ personal struggles - but this way, it ended up just being a bit boring.
