A very moving story on how a women who lived with her family in Sarajevo during 1992 become trapped there. Her husband and mother travelled to England to visit her daughter and her family and she was going to follow if necessary a few weeks later when all this madness was over.
What seemed overnight neighbours turned on others and Sarajevo was a city under siege. The electricity went off as did the water food became scarce the risk of being shot by snipers or bombed increased.
How a modern European city descended into a war torn death trap was terrifying. The battle to survive and just live was a constant struggle

I'm not really liking the narration. I'll try and read the physical or ebook.

Just didn’t particularly like this at all. Picked it up because of the topic but for me it just felt like it missed the mark. Wasn’t quite sure which age group it was written for so that’s probably a big factor.

Tells the story of a woman left behind during a civil war. Through the struggles, emotions and feelings are portrayed through a number of main characters.
Hope, strength and resilience shine in this book!

Took me a little while to get into it but once I did, extremely harrowing and beautiful.
