I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this book. I thought that having the MC as a PI solving supernatural mysteries is such a unique spin on the story. Callie’s character growth through the story is relatable and I’m living for the sexual tension between her and Des. The world building was so much fun. I had a great time reading this book. I’m looking forward to the sequel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4
A nice easy read! I’m interested to see where the rest of the series goes with four books in total because they have covered a lot of tropes in this first book. Des and Callie are very cute and I am excited to see how their relationship evolves. I must admit I’m also nervous for these next couple of books because I don’t know where the story will go.

I love the mix of supernatural and fantasy between the characters and this world. Des and Callie leave me wanting more! Lots of dark themes but nothing too terribly graphic.

3.5 stars. TW: sexual assault
This was recommended to me by a coworker without the trigger warning for how rapey some aspects of it were—mostly the villains.
The romance between the Bargainer and Callie was interesting even though it started when Callie was a minor. I guess ages go out the window when you’re the king of the night.
I also liked the portrayal of Callie as a siren—I thought that facet of world building was done well.
I probably would’ve liked it more if it was more cozy.
