I have a huge problem when it comes to Fairyloot books. I'm always very excited when I get them. Some of them were even on my wishlist. And yet somehow they stay on my shelves for way too long. I already waited quite a while before reading the first book in this duology and then I waited quite long again with the second book.

And although the book has a very slow start, I really do regret keeping it on my shelves for so long. Especially because the slow start turns out to be mostly build up and that build up is really going somewhere and leading somewhere. The last 75 pages of the book were spectacular and exciting and the ending felt really fitting to the storyline. I can understand that some people would have wanted a bigger change, but I think this is the only possible and right way.

I love how, even though there is romance in this book, it's still a story about two sisters trying to help and save each other. I mostly love that even in this second book it still feels a little like Sansa and Arya fanfiction, where they start out as themselves and then kinda switch storylines compared to Game of Thrones. The Arya has to survive at court. The Sansa has to survive as a warrior. And the outcome is perfect for both sisters!

In a way this book also feels very realistic. The time the characters need to become the people they have to be seems long, but they get the time to learn and grow and make mistakes. And no matter how much we would want to change the world, it would have been unrealistic if they could have changed it very drastically without repercussions. The book therefore has a very natural flow. Nothing comes out of nowhere. And nothing happens for no reason.

This was a great ending to a cute series.

I loved how Serina developed even further into her own character and finding her own identity through her experiences on Mount Ruin and with the other women from there. She and Val were the ultimate power couple; Val was perfect and adorable, and I loved him so freaking much.

Nomi continued to annoy. Unfortunately. She was the most educated woman in the book and yet she drove me up the walls with her stupid choices and lucky breaks. Her love interest, Malachi, was cute but not my favorite fictional man to exist. Their chemistry felt mid to me, but their relationship by the end of the book was really cute and fit really well for how the story was progressing.

The ending and resolution was a bit predictable, but nonetheless, it fit really well for the characters and the world. I especially loved the development of the Graces from book one to two; it came full circle in the most satisfying way and made me so proud of where Serina (specifically) landed.

Idk, bättre än den första med verkligen inte banbrytande. Kändes som att allt gick så fort? Som att hon fick brotten mot slutet? Aja en bok jag hade gillar för typ 5-6 år sedan

I really loved this sequel! Ok let’s be real the ending was a little rushed but the majority of the book was exciting. Would definitely recommend to any and all women.

Better overall than part 1, as a tad less predictable, but well, I came in with not very high expectations to begin with, so I was entertained.

I would definitely read this book again. I lived for the main characters and absolutely adored all of the side characters and their different roles in the story. The romance was good and I feel like it wasn't too overpowering of the actual story like I find that most books are. I would recommend this book to people. I loved this book.

An exciting, thrilling, and strong ending to a powerful feminine duology! I loved seeing the sisters fighting together and apart, each reaching for the same goal of equality. Nomi had the most character growth to do and I felt she closed out her arc well. Serina's adventure carried more drama and weight and grief. Not to mention explosive action!

The pace carried evenly throughout the book with its split POVs. I didn't find that the romantic interests had much to do, though they were sweet and added an extra layer to the characters. I found Maris and the other girls and women fighting with Serina to be the most compelling side characters. I would have loved to see more of them!

All in all, this was a quick read that I deeply enjoyed. Its leads were strong and inspiring, and the story remained packed with action and empowering themes. I'm so glad I picked up this series and gave it a try! Definitely a recommend for anyone who loves fantasy and strong women taking charge against a corrupt system!
