This author certainly liked to describe the physical characteristics of the characters. REALLY used unkind words to describe people who were overweight. Plus, there was no need (in my opinion) to spend 5 pages making internal monologue fat "joke" comment/descriptions about a minor character. Furthermore, the plot took too long to get to the point. Was hoping I found a new series to jump into but, I do not foresee me reading anymore of the alphabet.

So I've been eyeing these as my next overly-long mystery/thriller series for after I finish the Women's Murder Club books, but since I've been struggling to find book 9 of that series for months, I figured I could start on this one.

I had fun with this one. I didn't realize how old this series was. I guess I'm just used to James Patterson-style authors who are churning out 3-5 books per year... So it was surprising to me that Grafton had started this series in the 80s. It didn't feel dated, but it took me a few chapters to realize why certain things were as complex as they were - the technology just isn't there yet! The plot was a bit wild - I feel like Kinsey gets away with a lot that probably wouldn't happen in real life. But that's part of the fun of these kinds of books. Excited to read more of these books soon.
