I didn't like that they switched artists for the last issue. I liked the original artist (Pepe Arraz?) better.

This picks up right after the cliffhanger of the previous volume and the scenes of Kanan healing frame the flashbacks of his time during the Clone Wars. It was really cool seeing him during that time period (But I may be biased because that’s my favorite time period in all of Star Wars).

This volume isn’t as emotional as the previous volume but it still had some really nicely done action scenes showcasing Caleb, Depa, and the clones in action. It even had a callback to the TV show when Fenn Rau and his Mandalorians saved everyone like in the story Kanan told during “Rebels.” That was a really awesome scene.

Yet another window into Kanan's past. This is a perfect companion to both the Rebels series and A New Dawn. It had great artwork and stayed true to the characters.

So I accidentally read this backwards, but I think it was the Force working through me because that honestly made it a much better read! I have never watched Rebels, so I think this will give me a unique perspective on Kanan's character when I finally start the show. Very interesting character! I can't wait to continue with his story.

Reading Kanan has, more than anything else, convinced me that I need to check out Rebels. Ultimately, I enjoyed First Blood more than The Last Padawan. I liked how the present and past were more intertwined throughout the different issues of the collection. The art remained, of course, excellent.

I found this and didn't know it was a middle collection. Still good, since there's not much about Depa Billaba and Caleb Dume before he became Kanan Jarrus. Tied in nicely with the New Dawn novel.
