**Most of my reviews contain detailed Content Notes (including CW/TW) sections, which may include spoilers.  I have tried to mark them appropriately, but please use caution.**

3.75/5

Audio (Anne Flosnik)

* Summary:  After waking up in bed together and subsequently trapped into an unexpected marriage, prim/proper/overlooked Eden and flirty/popular Roland find the connexion might not be as undesirable as they first thought.
* Stats: AU HR, M/F, open door, part of a series but stands alone.
* Notes:  I enjoyed this (particularly the doggies), but don’t remember that much about the overall plot - except *vibes*.  The only thing that really irked me was the way the two ended up in bed (I had guessed this very early on) and that no one is held accountable for that.  Like, that’s an objectively really terrible thing to do to someone and the fact that it turned out well isn’t a get out of jail free card for them to me.  I liked the angst of the separation, but didn’t really get the mechanics behind that - it didn’t seem to track logically for me.

OTT and Spoilery Content Notes:
25M/22F, death of parent (in the past, mentioned, death in childbirth, death in horseriding accident), alcohol, FMC initially finds sex unpleasant, honor bondage, both MCs were drugged, a little breeding kink, pregnancy

I am not sure if I read these out of order (probably). Good stories but kind of predictable by the time I got to the 4th? 5th? one of these in a row. Love the glimpse into their daily lives and its a great world, just kind of lost its spark for me as I kept going.

Highly recommended though, I liked "The Unlovely Bride" the best as I read it first. Yes- out of order.

I'm trying to think of a good metaphor for my feelings about this (and the other books in the Karadok series).  It's one of those "exactly what you want when you want this kind of thing" --an adult version of a series that you glommed onto as a kid. A little slow, not too much tension, but lots of charming characters that feel homey especially since they live in a fantasy version of the Middle Ages that is roughly someone's Renn Fair/fantasy game come to life.
