This is a more explicitly therapeutic take on the cozy/healing fiction genre than most other books I've read in this vein. It's still a pleasant, easy read and quite likable, but it veers away from other books in this genre by including a fair bit of self-help-y language within the narrative. I didn't hate this, as it suits the writing style and the characters' introspection, but I also didn't love this aspect either. On the other hand, though, it deals more directly with darker themes than other healing fiction - for example, a number of the characters experience suicidal ideation. I found the first two chapters difficult to get into and briefly considered DNF-ing it as a result, but once the protagonist begins interacting with the other residents of Marigold it settles into a pleasant rhythm, and overall it does make for a nice read. While I probably wouldn't read it again, I'm glad I stuck with it.
Graphic: Bullying, Suicidal thoughts, Grief
Moderate: Infidelity, Mental illness, Toxic relationship, Suicide attempt, Death of parent, Abandonment
Minor: Eating disorder, Pregnancy

I'm not saying I won't consider giving it a second chance later on, since the plot seems interesting, but I've come to realise that maybe korean literature is just simply not for me.
