This book changed my life. I felt hopeful despite such incredible sadness. The characters were so incredibly well developed. I felt so connected to them. I learned a lot about Afghanistan and the history of the country.

Really, really enjoyed this book. Hosseini writes with such conviction that it grips you + sucks you right into the story. It gave such an incredible description of the traditions + ways of the Afghan culture, while also telling the heart-wrenching tale of two unbelievably strong women. A tale continually revolving around love, loss, admiration, pride, + connection.

It’s a heavy unrelenting story of unimaginable suffering based on lived realities of Afghan women. I am left indignant, that in this world, today, such horrors are experienced.
