I was lucky enough to win an ARC, even though it’s preordered lol.

This was SO FUN! I’m obsessed with the Royals, so reading books of royals from one of my fave authors = one helluva time! This was epic! I loved every minute of it. There were happy smiles, sad tears and alight our loud moments. All of it. It was great and these 2 were great! I’m hoping the siblings get books as well, great scenery and setting up of the countries. 5 super stars!

i’ve given up on reading this other book and now reading the books i’ve been wanting to read like this one and it’s very similar to this one story on wattpad called princezone i think i haven’t read it forever so i might be wrong but it has similar plots w the prince who’s going to be king and being in love w a commoner but having to marry a princess shit like that. i haven’t read much of royalty genre in awhile but it’s alright like it’s not my favorite but i was reading for the angst ofc but one thing that i don’t like is the main girl projecting her anger on the girl the main guy was engaged to rather than the main guy himself i just hate when women are pitted against each other like the girl did nothing wrong and you wanna hate her for being engaged to the guy you love acting like he’s not in the wrong for going through it. i also found the ending to be dragged out as i felt that the whole getting used to being w the main guy could’ve been glossed over in an epilogue but it’s done in multiple chapters where it just felt over done as the whole conflict was the main guy engaged to another girl and now that it’s over there’s not much going on besides adjusting to her new life. there was this other miscommunication conflict at the end that was just super out of place in my opinion i felt like they’ve already been through it enough. im not the biggest fan of the main characters tbh like the main girl i get icked w her hating the fiance and then she’s also very stuck in her own mind than listening to her friends and family but i do get her side bc she’s really into the main guy and them tryna protect her makes her feel trapped and unhappy. but i’m also like girl take the advice they want the best for you don’t be tryna get w a guy who youre planning an engagement party for pls. i’m also very confused w her background as she’s a commoner but her dad is on the cabinet of the royal family so i thought that wouldve gave her a status boost and not only that isn’t her family rich w the way they be flying her out to go to france her birth place and the us like wym she’s a commoner. but one thing i do like is the platonic friendships she was w guys and the main guy isn’t all alpha male possessive over her well he was at the beginning bc she was flirting w this one guy but then they became friends and i love their friendship. the main guy tho i got some opinions on him he really got balls to be asking the main girl to be his mistress like who in their right mind would ask someone they love that. he’s just questionable w the choices he makes bc i get it he’s the prince gonna be king he gotta prioritize his people and all that first but he’s acting like he doesn’t have the power to make changes and it’s the main girl that makes him realize that but i’m like you wanted the same thing before her why she had to push you to do it but hey it’s apart of the character growth. i just feel like he fucks up a little more than a normal person should and it annoys me and also he slept w the main girl while being engaged w his fiancé i hate cheating i don’t care if you don’t like your fiancé you’re still a cheater like what. idk how i feel about their relationship bc without taking into account the bad shit they have a decent relationship like they know each other and are comfortable w opening up but the lack of communication between them is what frustrates me. the smut isn’t even good bc theres barely pls but idk i’m just not feeling their chemistry like there’s times where i’m like ok that’s good but most of the time it’s kinda lacking. i’m not upset that they’re together i’m kinda indifferent i wish i got more from these characters i’m just very detached to them. so i’ll give it a 6/10 idk maybe i’m being too harsh, but that’s what i’m feeling atm.

I was honestly looking forward to reading this since the blurb piqued my interest BIG TIME.

But, unfortunately, when I started to delve into the story, it was lackluster in comparison to the summary. I was expecting it to be an epic, angsty, emotional ride but it turned out to be meh at best. I guess I just have high expectations when it comes to royal romances.

I also skimmed through some of the scenes. I didn't feel the romance, everything happened too fast for me and did not have enough build up for their love story to be convincing.

None of the characters held my interest, either.

I expected a riveting read. I'm really bummed that this isn't. It's an average one at best.

I’m normally a big Claire Contreras fan and have loved most of the books I’ve read but this was downright boring. The last 20% or so got better but too much of it was just painfully dull.

The book felt rushed. It says that it’s an enemies to lovers romance but the enemies part was barely present in the story. It’s a short considering it has 297 pages. Overall, Adeline and Elias were a cute couple but it didn’t give enemies to lovers. I wish they were actually enemies, it would have made the story more enjoyable and dynamic.

3.5 stars rounded up because I was in the mood for a quick read like this.

The romance was really missing something.
