The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune is one of those books that feels like a warm hug.

It follows Linus Baker, a by-the-book caseworker for magical kids, as he’s sent to a remote orphanage that’s home to the most unique (and wonderfully chaotic) children you can imagine. What starts as an assignment turns into a life-changing experience, and honestly, it was just so heartwarming to watch Linus let his walls down and embrace a new way of seeing the world.

The writing is tender and funny, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with the quirky characters.

This book reminded me how powerful kindness and acceptance can be—an absolute gem.

Now on to the sequel!

Cute, but my expectations were really high based on how many people told me that I'd love this book. I think I would have really loved it if I'd read it as a read-aloud to my kids. On my own, it was ok. Cute. A nice story presented in a somewhat childish way.
