Wow. This book was SO GOOD, James’ character was so funny and the new character Rosabelle was so interesting and she was so cool to learn about.
The ending was so interesting. The cliff hanger was so unexpected, it actually shocked me. One thing though that I was kinda disappointed in was the romance. This book was promoted to have an enemy’s to lovers trope between Rosabelle and James but that never happened? There was just some tension but nothing actually happened.  But one thing I am so happy that we got in this book was James and Warners relationship. It was so sweet to see their brother dynamic and how they interact with one another now, it was one of my favourite parts of this book.
This book absolutely  lived up to my expectations. It was such a fun read and I can’t wait until the next one comes out.
4.75/5 stars

If I hadn't started the book yesterday at 10 p.m. I would have done it in one day. It was so GOOD!!! I'm so in love with James, although it took some time to erase the 10/11 year old boy from my head. Rosebelle was also great I just love a strong FMC!
And hello Aaron and Juliette are having a baby! I'm so happy for them. On the other hand, Mafi also took two such special couples from us (I'm not saying who because of those who read the spoilers. You have to feel the pain in the book🥲) The AI part was also so interesting especially because of today's developments. I mean there is already Ki with the will to survive and chips for the heads are proclaimed. Unfortunately, it is a very great example of how our future could be.
So even if it doesn't come close to the original series I have to say that it will definitely be one of the best books of the year.

I wasn't sure about this one at first, but it got much better as it went along.  I loved getting to see Juliette and Warner and Kenji and all the old gang again.  So excited that the Shatter Me series is back!!!

i admit that i wasn't too interested in this at first. i went into it just for warnette and the OG gang and im very happy to report that i was very, very well fed. was worried that i was gonna be collecting bread crumbs the whole time but nope. aaron, juliette and the others are still very much present in the story (though juliette is understandably a little out of commission) since they're a huge part of james's life--not to mention theyre literal government leaders responsible for an entire society--but the point is, they were great supporting roles who weren't overshadowing the leads but not entirely taking the backseat either. i was satisfied with what i got from them.

and speaking of leads, really did end up liking james and rosabelle. their chemistry was well established and remained consistent and organic, and they both have really interesting and complex personalites/personal arcs. i felt especially endeared to rosabelle and fascinated with the way her mind works but also absolutely heartbroken at the things she went through that made her the way she is, whereas james is still my prince and it was great to see how much he's evolved and how different he is than before, but still somehow the same in all the ways that matter. i fucking love the assassin x target or "falling for your mark" trope so my interest was immediately piqued once it made sense that its what james and rosa's dynamic was gonna be.

the tropes were surely troping, but even with all the effort put into the romance, the plot wasnt left behind at all. some sequels as of late are prone to being weakly written and obviously only exist for nostalgia bait and to keep generating hype and money, but i gotta give tahereh her flowers for this one bc it actually seems like she's got something solid going on here. it makes sense for the new republic to still be facing problems even after a decade of coming into power. klaus is an impressibly unique villain that will most definitely cause a lot of problems be very hard to take down, plus the ark island folks do seem like proper pricks that'll be a pain to deal with. i like that. gimme all the action! i am more than ready to be back in this world. so far this is really shaping up to be a pretty damn good second gen series and if tahareh mafi keeps this up then and i will happily lock the fuck in for the next book or two. 4.75 stars ;)

I love this new book! It's soo good! James and his humour throughout the book is hilarious! It's like having another Kenji. Rosabelle is a more complex character
though seems soft on the inside and around James most of the time.
The features of Aaron, Juliette and Kenji made me love this book even more. Though there is one thing; WHY DID IT END ON A CLIFFHANGER?! It says in the cover of the book "The first book in the new series set...". So excited to see what Tahereh comes up with!
